Two Kinds of People
- There are two kinds of people in the world:
- Those who divide the world into two kinds of people and those who don’t
- The problem and the solution
- Reactive and proactive
- Those who walk into a room and say “here I am” and those who walk into a room and say “there you are”
- When someone points out a problem without a solution, that person becomes an annoyance.
- A person who is willing to solve every problem he or she faces increases his/her value to the team.
- The less attention we require from our leaders, the more valuable we are to them.
- Quit expecting things to be the way they “ought” to be. This continually leads to frustration. Instead, deal with things the way they actually are.
- Problems are on the surface; solutions are at the bottom of the pool.
-
Reactive people rarely look for more to do.
-
Proactive people are alert for any situational bumps in the road.
- How can you become more proactive and less reactive?
- Think long term. Continue thinking down the road.
- Keep your eyes open for opportunities to serve others.
- Keep your mind open for new ideas.
- Work to maintain a high emotional IQ.
- Influence is the natural default of proactive people.
